How to Break Into New York Society

Let's see...where did I put my list? Ah, here it is...

Appointment to sit for portrait with Sargent...check
Prestigious Fifth Avenue residence...check
Invitation to Mrs. Astor's Patriarch Ball...check
Private box at the New York Academy of Music...check
Summer home in Newport...check

Wait, something's missing! How can I possibly sit for a Sargent portrait or attend the Astor Ball without dresses from Worth?

Anyone who was anyone during most of the second half of the 20th century wanted the couture gowns of the House of Worth in Paris. Charles Frederick Worth dressed the courts of Europe and if it was good enough for a queen, then it was good enough for Mrs. Vanderbilt.

Naergilien Wunderlich of Wunderlich's Historical Garb has created a gown inspired by an actual Worth original. The gown has the Worth-designed crinoline which moved the fullness to the back of the dress instead of the huge circular shape that had been popular during the Victorian period.

If you've never been to Wunderlich's Historical Garb, you should seriously get your boohiney over there. Naergilien has years and years of experience making real life costumes and period clothing and she has transferred that experience to her SL creations. There are gowns from every period as well as famous movie costumes. I still have my fingers crossed that she will tackle Anna's ballgown from The King and I one day.

The hair is the 1885 Bustle Updo from Prim & Proper. Beautifully intricate and insanely cheap. You can't beat that combination.

But let's take a closer look at that necklace. Cameos were more popular during the Victorian period but you have to see this one from Eolande...

Not only is the locket beautiful on the outside but instead of just being able to add one picture of your own to the inside of the locket, you can add as many as you like and when the locket is open, you can scroll through all of them.

I'm still on the great search for dress shoes from these periods so if anyone has any ideas, please send them my way!
